Ray Jr. is back today with something brand new and highly infectious called “Champagne Spillin’”. The track is a rather smooth joint that finds Ray linking up with west coast MC, Problem, for something incredibly dope and addictive.
“Champagne Spillin’” is driven by some interesting melodic elements that give off a west coast feel and get matched up with some hard hitting drums that the fellas do their thing upon. This shit is too cold, check it out after the jump.
Shout out to the homie eNPHANATe for putting me on to another dope artist out of Ohio. Cleveland artist TiME (@ImTiME) delivers his latest effort with the help of DJ/Producer Corey Grand (@DJCoreyGrand) of the Varsity Sqaud. Check out ‘This Is Musical Excellence’ these 5 smooth tracks for the summer can be found here on LiveMixtapes.
There’s nothing like an independent artist on their grind. This is just another example of hard work and dedication in motion. Take a look into the day Real T@lk opened for Big Boi + Killer Mike on 5/1/13 at Park West in Chicago, IL for The Shoes For Running World Tour.
Inspiration/Meaning: A griot (pronounced gree-oh or gree-ot) is a West African travelling historian, storyteller, praise singer, poet and/or musician. The griot is a keeper of oral tradition. Real T@lk identifies as a griot; not only is he an artist, but he’s African-American. Most African-Americans are descendants of slaves that were originally taken from West Africa, hence… “Memoirs Of A Modern-Day Griot“. This is the first episode of an ongoing documentary that gives a glimpse of a modern-day griot’s journey and the individuals that he or she may encounter along the way. Enjoy!
Episode 2: “The Opening Act”, Memoirs Of A Modern-Day Griot [mini documentary]
