[MUSIC] Habit Blcx (@HabitBlcx) – ‘Progress is a Process’ EP Campaign

progressisaprocess

In my years of DJing in Los Angeles, I met a number of artists through different outlets. However, the most talented / promising was Habit Blcx (previously known as Rappinismyhabit). From the moment I heard his music I knew that he was on to something big. His passion and emotion was clearly illustrated through his rhymes and content, and each project he released was light years ahead of the last. His next EP, ‘Progress is a Process,’ is in production and he’s asking all of us lovers of Hip Hop music to join in the process. Check out the video for the campaign below.

Check out https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/progress-is-a-process-ep to see how you can contribute. Money is great, but even just spreading the word will work wonders. Everyone always asks where did real Hip Hop music go, and I’m telling you its alive and well in Habit Blcx. Listen to his previous work here if you don’t believe me.

[MUSIC] @Rappinismyhabit – HipiDega

I have been fortunate to link up with some amazing artists in the Los Angeles area, and Habit aka Rappinismyhabit is among the best. His recently released debut album Hipi-Dega is a breath of fresh air in the world of Hip-Hop; culture-conscious lyrics over dope soul Hip-Hop beats nourish the ears and the mind. Check out what Habit had to say about his project:

Hipi is to open eyes, Dega is to understand. This project takes you through my emotions as I navigate the world inside (the world I create for myself), as well the world outside, (the one that everyone else creates).

This project has definitely been the most intimae and introspective of my work. I always say my personal development as a young man reflects in my music; and vise versa, as I grow personally so does my artistry.

The title “Hipi Dega” was inspired by Mk Asante’s book “It’s bigger than hip hop: The Rise of a Post Hip Hop Generation”. There is a chapter of the book that touches on how much our English vernacular is inspired by parts of Africa, in particular the Wolof tribes of West Africa. So in essence, the title is not only a call to action, but also an ode to the rich African history that inspires me.
