I’ve been DJing for about 8.5 years, and this podcast is almost 4 years old. I don’t update as often, as life as been getting busier and busier. However, I still come across people on Facebook wearing their 5 year old Heart Bern tees, I get emails from folks in other countries about old podcast episodes, as well as other signs of support. I appreciate all of the listeners that hold me down; so much that I am dedicating this Valentine’s Day weekend to you. This is Episode 48 of WBRN Radio. This episode is titled ‘Rhythm and Bern, A Dedication.’ These songs are dedicated to each and every one of you that still tune in, as I think the sounds reflect my listeners taste in sexy neo-R&B with a Hip Hop influence. I have been listening to the same running mix for over a year now, and while it has helped me improve my time greatly, it has really gotten old. When I made the first mix (check it out here) my intentions were to make another one in the next month. Finally, here’s something new you can run to. I wanted to make it clean like the first one, but some of the songs aren’t. It’s the same theory though; music at 83 BPM to help you (me) keep a great pace. Since the last mix I’ve shaved almost 2 minutes off of my 2 mile time. I hope it helps you!

Fresh off an exclusive premiere with hip-hop media giant – 2DopeBoyz,
Columbus, Ohio emcee, Hodgie XVII drops this dope lyrical assault
over this smooth piano-laced production from producer, Rashad (produced for MMG’s Stalley, etc). Hodgie expresses through his lyrics that he ain’t about the games especially with the “internet gangstas.”
This single, “Homicide” is the second single from Hodgie XVII’s forth-coming album, “American Dreamin'” which is set for release next week on May 12th. “American Dreamin'” will be hosted by 2DopeBoyz. Be on the lookout for more of his material.
It’s time to catch the Holy Ghost with Exec Gang’s own, Nes Wordz. “Holy Ghost” is the first look inside Nes’ forthcoming project Stupid Genius which is set to drop sooner than expected. For the production duties, Nes enlisted, Tha Audio Unit, SupaNatra & Jacoti Sommes, who all have respective production credits under their belts which include Smoke DZA, French Montana, Jeremih and others. Stupid Genius will be available on iTunes this time next week.
A while back we covered the new EP from Ohio artist Correy Parks entitled “The Layover,” and we felt like the highlight of the project is how the first track hit you in the chest out of the gate. Well finally, that track has a video to go with it. Check out the visual to “Arrival” below and let us know how much more you enjoyed the video the second time around!
That sound we’ve all been yearning for is back! Check out the new release from Trek Manifest ‘Americano Visionado’ produced by the great Rare Kommodity. This song is off of the forthcoming ‘L.E.G.A.C.Y.’ project. Let us know what you think!
It gives us great pleasure to witness growth in the beginning of an artists’ career. From his first project that dropped not too long ago, to his current release ‘The Layover,’ Correy Parks has been building on a foundation of talent, passion, and uncharted potential. ‘The Layover’ is a great collection of songs that show the growth and range of what Correy is all about.
The first track, ‘Arrival,’ will instantly draw you into the project. With his rapid flow and complex rhyme scheme, Correy passionately and furiously lets the world know that he has arrived. From there, the mood goes from a laid back vibe to a conscious vibe to more rapid fire bars. All of this is less important to the content of ‘The Layover,’ which seems to be tailored to send a message of creative and internal struggle in today’s society.
I recommend you sit down and listen to the project in its entirely. Then, run it back and pay attention to the words that are being said. It’s easy to get so caught up in the flow and the excellent production, that you miss the uplifting message between the lines.
Check it out below and let us know what you think!
